Look what just came off my needles!

I finished the second black sock in record time and I now have a complete pair to give my husband. They may not look like much, but these puppies involved knitting about 32,000 tiny black stitches, give or take a few hundred (how does one calculate short row heels?)!
What started out as a project I wasn’t very excited about, ended up turning into the best kind of soothing process knitting in the last week as I was struggling to do the last drafting of my MA thesis. With every brain cell I have (and some I don’t have) dedicated to that project, the idea of dealing with complicated knitting issues that involved the following of charts or counting of things was basically out of the question. Instead, this simple sock project, whose pattern I could easily memorize and the color of which actually encourages knitting without looking, came to my rescue.
You may be seeing more plain vanilla knits in my future, at least until the end of April!

they look wonderful!! and the perfect distraction from an overwhelming intellectual task. i got sidetracked on my black socks, unfortunately.
*standing ovation* Hooray! Hurrah! They’re done! All those tiny black ribbed stitches. I think you are owed a cupcake. Or 3.
Oh my! I can’t believe you finished them. And they’re so LONGGGG. Well done! Very well done!
