New Charity Contest Prize

So far the Charity Challenge contest I launched this month is off to a surprisingly slow start.

I know many of you who follow this blog enjoy contributing your handmades to charity, so I’m thinking maybe you all are just holding out until you see more prizes. The Malabrigo Sock I offered up last week wasn’t enough for you? I guess I’ll just have to sweeten the pot, literally.

Prize #2: Dye Your Own Yarn Kit

Three lucky winners will each receive a skein of Knit Picks Bare merino-nylon blend sock yarn and an assortment of Kool-Aid to practice hand dyeing your own yarn. Each 100g skein contains 462 yards of fingering weight yarn, 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon (for strength and durability). This is silky soft stuff.  Never tried dyeing before? Not to worry. I’ll include some links with online directions. Anyone with a microwave and some plastic wrap can handle this and create stunning results.

For a chance to win this kit, simply knit or crochet a project of your choice for a charity of your choice before December 31, 2010 and let me know about it via Flickr or the online entry form.  Full contest details and rules can be found on the contest page.  Unfortunately not everyone who enters will win a prize (though at this point, your chances are very very good!), but, as many of you already know, contributing your handmade objects to people who need them is rewarding all by itself. Please consider making a little something for someone else!
