Bribery

I know I told you all last week that I would be sticking to my Featherweight Cardigan and pushing through so I could wear it soon, but, alas, I couldn’t help myself from casting on for the Twinflower sweater this week.

Last night I actually caught myself using the new project as an incentive to finish the old one. As in “If I finish an inch on the featherweight, I’ll get to knit a couple rows on the Twinflower.” The thing is, both of these projects involve large sections of plain stockinette stitch at this point. So, you may be wondering, as I am, what is really the difference between them.

There are a few things. The Featherweight uses lace weight yarn. Even though it is paired with big needles (4mm anyway), I have to pay some attention to it or it turns into a tangled mess.  The Elann Cantata yarn I’m using for the Twinflower is much easier to work with.  The Twinflower also has shorter rows (since it is worked in pieces) so it seems like the sweater is growing faster, even though this an illusion. Mostly though, I think it is just that the new project is NEW and I have a short attention span. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks to my self bribery, I’m almost through the body of the Featherweight. A few more inches (I’m adding some length to the pattern) and I’ll be on to the sleeves. If I keep up my “deal,” by the time the Featherweight is finished I may even have the whole back of the Twinflower knitted, too!

I do that all the time. Get more done on this project and then you can cast on for this….. It works wonders sometimes :)

Haha, good technique! And I totally understand the difference between two different stockinettes!
